Beware! House doctors are carrying out medical procedures to obtain a driver’s license

November 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A Facebook page is offering costumers to go to their homes or offices to carry out the necessary, medical procedures to obtain a driver’s license. It is not an illegal practice but authorities are concerned.

According to Enrique González, from the Committee on Traffic Medicine from the Medical College of Physicians, some experts’ license opinions are taken lightly.

Medical opinions could not be the best. Imagine that the doctor would have to take the equipment to the office. In addition, for the visual examination, an office of at least 6 meters is needed, otherwise there is no guarantee that the patient is really well,

declared González.

According to the doctor, if the medical examination was not well done, the future driver could become a danger on the road.

Irregularities in the medical license examination may be reported by calling to 2210-22 00 or on this website. According to figures from the organization, each year an average of 5 complaints of this kind are received.

Furthermore, when paying for the service, be very careful: the Medical College of Physicians establishes a single rate of 20,000 colones for the medical examination. The cost cannot be higher even if the service is provided at home.
