October 19, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Heavy rains Monday caused a great flood in Barceló Playa Tambo Hotel. Enrique Boza, from the legal department of the hotel, described it as something he has never seen before. He added that Zelaya y Pánica rivers overflowed and that flooded the building.

The official said that at about on October 17th, at about 4:30 pm the heavy downpours started and at 6 o’clock the hotel was flooded. 50 rooms, 2 restaurants and pools were very affected and it was necessary to pump to extract the dirty water.

Boza admitted that guests were very upset about the situation, but it was something they couldn’t control due to the heavy rains. The flood also reached the parking lots and and 4 clients informed that their vehicles had been affected and a crane was needed to solve the situation. The insurance company will cover the damage costs. People are safe and they went home.

Now, the hotel authorities must make a plan to prevent such situations from happening again.
