Heavy rains cause several incidents in the country

May 24, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) reports several incidents in different sectors of the country as a result of heavy rains on Thursday afternoon.

In Alajuela, specifically in Los Chiles and Caño Negro, the CNE had to deal with floods.

In Buenos Aires of Puntarenas, the neighbors requested an inspection of the bridge, because they feared the structure has been affected by the downpours. In Coto Brus, Pittier, and Palmira a landslide was reported, so authorities are inspecting the area. In Desamparados, Rosario, and La Fila there was damage to houses due to saturation of sewers.

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), the persistence of the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone near Costa Rica will maintain the rains in the country, with the downpours concentrating in the mountain ranges.
