Johnny Araya, candidate (PLN) for the National Liberation Party has received the blessing from leaders of the National Evangelical Alliance, after making a speech on Thursday against abortion and same-sex marriage at the Hotel Real Intercontinental in Escazú. The position sets him apart from his opponent, Luis Guillermo Solís who favors abortion in cases of rape, and supports same sex unions.

The National Evangelical Alliance is a religious organization, founded in 1950 that brings together 547 groups in the country.
