Legislator filed writ of amparo against Minister of Sports and ICODER

December 13, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Legislator Fabricio Alvarado, from Restaruración Nacional Party, filed a writ of amparo against Sports Minister Carolina Mauri and the Costa Rican Institute for Sport and Recreation (ICODER) for refusing to give him information on the construction of the Aquatic Center in La Sabana.

The legislator explained that Law 7361 establishes a prohibition to build in La Sabana and the Sports Council also approved that ICODER will owe 45 million dollars to the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), amount that, according to Alvaro exceeds ICODER’s capacity to pay.

The legislator added that after requesting the information, the Ministry of Sports invited him to a session of the Sports Council, which he could not attend.
