January 11, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The suspect of transporting eight Cuban migrants hidden in a truck loaded with 138gas cylinders was released on precautionary measures.

The man, named González Duarte, must now sign each month, and maintain a fixed address and work.

The petition was made by Golfito’s Prosecutor before the local criminal court, during a hearing on Monday.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, González does not have a criminal record.

The islanders had a passport, but they did not have immigration stamps that verified their entry into the country.
