Men carried wild animals in their bags

May 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Three youths who were in La Merced Park drew the attention of police officers due to their obvious nervousness.

The officers believed they were carrying drugs. However, when checked, their bags contained a great variety of animals including 7 turtles, 2 iguanas, 3 black iguanas, 5 mice, 12 tarantulas and 1 boa.

According to the police report, the now-arrested youths said the packages were to be exchanged for fish.
