In the last three years, an animal care program led by the Municipality of Cartago managed to rescue more than 2,000 dogs from the streets.
The Municipal Center for Education for Animal Care (CMECA) focuses on pet rescue, public safety and education. They have sterilized and vaccinated 2,103 dogs; 717 of them were adopted and 324 returned home after being lost.
We are very proud and satisfied with the results of the CMECA. During these three years, the project has allowed promoting education in responsible pet ownership and preventing violence, contributing in this way to public health and animal welfare,”
