President of the Court asks to suspend Celso Gamboa

October 18, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The President of the Court, Carlos Chinchilla, confirmed to the press that he submitted a formal request to suspend Judge Celso Gamboa from all his duties. That suspension would be extended for at least three months (or indefinitely), to investigate his relations with the Chinese cement importer and with certain actions in the cementazo and other cases.

According to Chinchilla, the discovery made by CRHoy.com revealed that the tickets to the trip to Panama were paid with the same card, and this finding triggered the extraordinary (and private) session held on Tuesday.

This news from CRHoy.com is a very important element, it cannot be left out. It is an important trigger and it will be valued with all the information that there is. It’s a revealing element,”

said Chinchilla said.

Chinchilla acknowledged that everything related to the cementazo affects the image of the Judiciary and that they are not protecting anyone, but that they are trying to make the investigation progress without interferences or pressures.
