President said that the union’s strike will not proceed

October 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Once again, the unions threatened to go on indefinite strike if the project for public employment moves forward.

Regarding the situation,  President Luis Guillermo Solís was emphatic that although to make such demonstrations is a democratic citizen’s right, it is not appropriate in this matter.

Solís explained that they are still discussing the points on this project, which aims to regulate extras wages in the public sector, therefore, a dialogue is an essential part at this time.

So far, no decision has been made on the issue, because the President knows a reasonable discussion is essential before any ruling. Therefore, Solís believes that talking about strikes is not appropriate yet.

It is a dialogue on public employment that is in process, there is nothing settled, the legislators have to taken a position on the matter,”

said Solís.
