Weekend downpours affected 16 cantons

The National Commission for Prevention of Risks and Emergency Care (CNE), reported a total of 16 cantons affected by the heavy rains this weekend.

According to Sigifredo Pérez, Chief of Operations of the CNE, the incidents were recorded in five cantons of San José, three in Guanacaste, two in Cartago, three in the South Zone, one in Heredia, one in Puntarenas and one in Alajuela.

In Barrio Buenos Aires in Pacayas, the CNE, in collaboration with fire department, responded to an alert from a house affected by the overflow of the sewage system that appeared at about 5:50 pm, but no affected people were reported.

In addition, the CNE reports that the province of San José was one of the worst affected by heavy rains.
