New York Mafia used Costa Rica for illegal gambling

May 30, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Members of the New York mafia used an illegal gambling website domiciled in Costa Rica for alleged millionaire crimes.

Six men were arrested by the District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, on suspicion of organizing a plot that involves the movement of $13.2 million, with Eugene Castelle, a recognized member of the mafia cell known as ‘Lucchese Family’, being their leader.

The Lucchese are one of the five families who dominated the criminal activity in New Jersey and New York since the early 20th century.

The men were charged with enterprise corruption, promoting gambling, money laundering and conspiracy. Apparently, they used the website StakeStake.com to commit the crimes.
