The holiday season is over and pawnshops shelves are a proof for that

January 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

If paying the vehicle ownership tax, the Christmas gifts, the ingredients for tamales and dinner left you without money, don’t worry, you are not the only one.

The so-called “post-holiday budget crunch” is alreday invading people’s lives and it is seen on the shelves of pawn shops. La Cueva reports a 15% increase in the number of articles received. On a regular day, this pawnshop receives about 200 articles in all its headquarters, but since December, the number has risen to 350.

According to Norman Moya, manager of La Cueva Pawnshop, this period will last until April; people pawn December gifts or the things they bought but they do not need every day to be able to finance the children’s tools and also vacations.

Gold objects, such as rings and necklaces, appliances and televisions are the most pawned items.
